Because his parents were often busy with running a Chinese restaurant, "Ever since I was young, the ones I talked to were always my brother and our pets. Whenever I was at my limit with work or private matters, I would talk to our pets about it."
He grew up surrounded by them— two yorkshire terriers raised at his parents’ home, turtles and a parrot at his grandmother’s, even squirrels.
Even now, he recalls memories of his diseased Great Burnese mountain dog.
"I was very happy to be able to take pictures of him with all of Arashi in our photobook (from 2002). And I make visits to his grave still. Because (like flowers) it’s also life, so I think I’ll delve into that sort of area to build my character."
